Laboring for all the wrong reasons!
Good Morning Psalm 127:1 Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. You know as Christians some of us believe that work was brought on by sin and that it is a disciplinary action brought on by God for the sin of Adam and Eve. This is a very mistaken belief that can ruin the way we look at doing work on a day to day basis. In Gen 1:26 God said, "Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness. Well weather you know it or not God is a laborer, He is a worker! After all, look at all the things He has created, even us. (Vs 27) and in Vs 28 He commissioned us to work for Him. To have dominion over all living things on earth. So you see we had a job to do long before sin ever came into the picture. In Colossians 3:23 Paul tells us, What ever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working unto the Lord, not for men. My mom used to tell me that all the time, and still does today. See I think that is where we all miss the point of Labor. Cause I don't know about you, but alot of times, wait let me rephrase that. Most of the time I don't want to go to work. Because it is a chore! So for me today on this Labor Day instead of looking at it as a day off we need to look at it as a day to do something for the Lord. After all I don't think He has gotten a day off since that 1 He rested on way back when. Cause once we sinned, we needed Him all the time from there on out. So today join me in changing our attitudes about working. God built the House you live in, and I'm not talking about the one with the roof over your head. But the one you walk around in. So lets use them to work and glorify Him everyday. When we do that we will never labor in vain! HABD!
