Good Morning! First off let me apologize for yesterday. But I had a busy day and it started early. And for you at C.R. I went to a Memorial Service for a guy, Bob Erwin who helped start the Celebrate Program in Murphy I was a member of. Him and His Wife Judy also helped Mark and Sharon get this one in Blairsville started. He was the Teacher of the first 12 step program I went to. He will be greatly missed. Matt 6:16 When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth they have received their reward in full. VS 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, VS 18 so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your father who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. There are many places in the Bible where Jesus tells us not to be out going in showing what we do for God. Like praying, in Matt 6:5 He tells us to go into a closet. And when it comes to giving He says don't let the right hand know what the left hand is doing. But sometimes I wonder if I am not like the Hypocrites? For even last night I was boasting about doing this text ministry and things I do. When it is only because of God and what HE has done in my life I have the privilege to do this. Can any of you relate with me? I know for me, I tend to want to show people what a good a devout Christian I am. I like to let people know all the Good things I am doing for God. Does anyone else out there feel this way? We are all like the Pharisees. We like to let people see all the good we are doing for God. When I read these Vs this morning it just reminded me and put back in perspective how I should be as a Christian. We are not to boast about ourselves and what we do, but boast about our God, our Father and what He does. For I know that none of the life changing things that have come in my life are from anything I have done. I am not clean and sober today because of my willpower, it is because of His Power. I don't get up every morning to share his word with you because I want to. Because believe me there are some mornings I would rather sleep. But it is His Spirit that drives me to do this. So today whatever you are doing for the glory of God, don't be boastful about it like the hypocrites here Jesus is talking about. Do it humbly as Jesus did things humbly. Serving the Father and letting His will be done. For it doesn't matter how many things you let people see you do for God. God knows the heart and He will be the one handing out rewards in the end. So what you do for God today, keep it between you and Him. Cause He's the only one you really have to worry about, and what he thinks. Not what others think. HABD!
