What's your Spirit?

Good Morning! Say a prayer for me today as I haven't been feeling good the last couple days. Thanks! Matt 5:3 NKJV "Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven." These words describe some with a character just opposite of the scribes and Pharisees of Jesus' time. They were respected Jews who would soon become Jesus' main enemies. Though these leaders talked about God a lot about God, made every effort to look good, and probably had excellent reputations, Jesus described them as "Whitewashed Tombs" (Matt 23:27) They might have looked good on the outside, but inside they were disgusting. Maybe you've met some folks who thought they had a great spiritual life, were proud of their place in the community, and talked a good line about their faith, yet they never cracked open a Bible and lived according to their own rules, not God's. Full of their own Spiritual importance, they may not have listened when you tried to tell them about real faith. These so called spiritually full people head toward destruction at Mach speed, though they don't recognize it. They can't hear Jesus calling them to recognize their own emptiness, instead, and fly to Him for filling. Only those who know their own inadequacy, when it comes to pleasing God, are ready to be truly full. Instead of clinging to ideas that cannot save or trying to earn their way to heaven, they recognize that all they can offer cannot make them ready for eternity. God must drain them of their own spiritual ideas, values and desires first. Those who recognize that truth and turn to Jesus are filled with His Spirit and given a new life. Eventually they inherit heaven with Him. But from that breath of new life, heaven lies within their hearts, and God's filling has begun. So today I ask you to take a good look at your Spirit. Is it Gods Spirit? Or is it one of doing what you think will get you to heaven, or doing deeds to get to heaven? Remember Jesus told us, there is only one way to get to the Father and that is through me. So who's Spirit do you have today? Jesus' or Yours? HABD!
